4, Walnut Hill ES, Petersburg Public Schools. First Place: Andion Dizon, Colonial Trail Elementary School, Henrico County Public Schools. 3 Simple Words, 3 Simple Statements. “I am sorry.” “I love you.” “I forgive you.” In my eyes, peace is not just a word that can describe something or someone. Nixon. They are the statements said above. Peace is the little things people do every day. There may be many different definitions of peace, but the most important one to me is the one my mother has taught me.
My mother has always said that God tells us to adaptations, forgive each other, give to others, and love each other. Does that not explain peace itself? Do those statements above not show peace? I think that if every single person on this planet lived by these three simple rules, and said those three simple statements everyday, the world might be ready to move onto Essay, the bigger acts of adaptations, kindness such as stopping wars or lowering crime rates. As I have said in the paragraph before, my mother is the biggest influence I get in making peace. However, my mother is Essay, just teaching me the will of God. Hamlet Adaptations. God has given all of us the chance to be alive. We should use that chance to be nice to other people, to forgive them.
When one little boy or girl says, “I am sorry,” the other boy or girl may start to White-Collar Essay, forgive as well. Those little acts of hamlet adaptations, kindness spread and spread until the approaches, whole world is contaminated with forgiveness. When I hurt my sister or my parents, I try to forgive them as best as I can. Once, I ripped a very important fashion book that belonged to my sister. I said that I was sorry and repaired the book with tape. Then, I said that I would make up for it with one chore she asked me to perform. So, I had to take out the trash for her for one day.
In that example, one little mistake was forgiven and hamlet adaptations one little grudge that could have happened was reduced to smithereens. The next rule of peace my mother has taught me is to give to others. I know the perfect follower of God’s rule for this one. In September of take, 1946, Mother Teresa found her inspiration of giving with God’s love to others. She cared for the sick, poor, and elderly without a moment’s hesitation. Even when someone had been left to die on the side of the street, Mother Teresa had picked him or her up and cared for him or her till death. That is truly an act of kindness that can bring peace to others around you. Even though I may not seem like I can do such extravagant things with my life, I can do smaller things like making others feel more comfortable when they are sick or giving someone a Band-Aid when they get a cut. Small things like that can go a long way. When people get married, they vow to always love and care for their husband or wife. However, some couples get a divorce and hamlet never love each other again.
My mother has taught me that that is not how God wants us to bring peace to the world. When we are little, we should love our family, siblings, friends, neighbors, classmates, or anyone and when we grow up, we should still follow that. My mother has always told me to think before I do or say anything. I may think that what I am saying about another person is a joke while the dr faustus, other person might think it is an insult. That is showing that you care and love the other person enough to take the hamlet adaptations, time to edit what you are about to say or do. Everyone deserves our love and has the right to feel loved.
Going back to the paragraph before this, Mother Teresa showed her love and the love of God to everyone who had no one left to love him or her. We should do the same. Not just when we get married, but from birth to death. Does Brave New World. If everyone in the world cared for hamlet, one another, think about how wars might be stopped or how crime rates could be lowered! When people say, “I love you” or “I am here for you,” things have already changed on the Earth around us. You have passed that gift of love and care to another person beside you and then they pass it on nixon v. united states, to another and another and another! Love can be contagious if you let it.
The Earth is adaptations, a beautiful planet and the people on theory of education, the face of the earth are beautiful as well. My mother has made a big difference in my life when she taught me the hamlet, word of God. God wants us to follow those three simple rules, forgive each other, give to others, and dr faustus love each other. Hamlet Adaptations. We cannot wait for someone like Mother Teresa or Mahatma Gandhi to jump-start the spreading of peace. People like you and me can do that in Crime and Criminals Essay, the little words and statements we say every day. My mother has really given me the biggest influence in my life to making peace. She has taught me to always follow what God wants you to do. We may already have our future in our minds, but we cannot pursue that future until we can learn to forgive, give, and love everyone. Hamlet Adaptations. Only when our hearts are open for giving forgiveness and Essay love can God tell us what we are meant to do on this planet.
Only then are we ready to adaptations, really bring peace to conflict theory, the world. “I forgive you.” “I love you.” “I am sorry.” Second Place (tie) : Sarah N. Bender gr. 5, Colonial Trail Elementary School, Henrico County Public Schools. Life is adaptations, a book. Ever since Adam and Eve stepped foot on the Earth, the fate and conflict theory history of humans has been recorded as one long story that won’t end for hamlet, as long as we live. There are moments of peace, moments of Crime and Criminals Essay, war, moments of adaptations, strife, and moments of pride. We are the next chapter.
If we don’t improve the story, the next generation must clean up our mess. To do that, we have to have peace. Psychological Approaches. Our lives are each an unwritten page. Adaptations. It’s our job to write on it the right way. Imagine that you are a white person sitting on a bus.
Sounds of commotion ripple through the v. united states, still air. Adaptations. You peer outside through your dusty window. Policemen and black children are participating in a bloody battle. White men are rallying the police on. The children are hitting at the attacking police with their signs. You see a black woman cry out. One of the approaches, children is dead on hamlet adaptations, the sidewalk, blood streaming from a round hole in his chest. A police officer puts a gun back in his belt. Theory. You see slogans such as ‘Peace for all’ and ‘Equality’ flash before your eyes, the blood stains of their carriers splashing on the worn cardboard. A grim smile crosses your face. Suddenly, the noise ceases.
A tall, lean figure strides into the noise. Hamlet Adaptations. All eyes turn to face him. Whispers fill the does brave new world take, humid air. You turn, and your friends are gasping and pointing at adaptations, him. The famous Martin Luther King Jr. has arrived on the scene. He stands in psychological, the middle of the group. Wordlessly, he kneels down, draws a cross on his head and blesses the dead boy. After that, he stands up and walks away. The crowd stands speechless, but the fight doesn’t continue. Everyone solemnly walks away.
The greatest peacemaker in hamlet, history has just left his mark on the world. His chapter marks glory and a new age of peace. It would do us all good to follow his example. Even though there are no more street fights, our world isn’t as peaceful as it was during his time. There’s no better way to Essay Arcadia, prove that then to highlight the events of September 11, 2001. Osama Bin Laden and his men hijacked 4 planes. Two crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center in Manhattan (Twin Towers), and the buildings collapsed within two hours of the crashes. The buildings became a mass of falling debris and flame, leading to the partial or complete destruction of all the other buildings in the World Trade Center and 4 buildings in it’s immediate area. The third plane crashed into hamlet adaptations the Pentagon in Washington, DC, destroying it’s western side. The last plane crashed into a field as the passengers attacked the hijackers aboard.
After these attacks, all 19 hijackers and all of the where does new world take place, civilians aboard the adaptations, planes died, as well as hundreds of people working in take, the attacked areas. While history boasts a golden age of peacemakers, but a record number of adaptations, fatalities and casualties because of violence, present day has no shortage. The one difference is conflict theory, that today, violence may happen for no reason. On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza secured the fates of hamlet adaptations, 20 children, 6 adults, hundreds of families, and an entire community. Those children had done nothing to hurt Adam. Crime. One family whose child had been taken lived across the adaptations, street from the Lanzas. It made me heartbroken to find out that they believed that they could have stopped this if they had reached out more. I think that it would have made Lanza guilty, but I think that the action wouldn’t have been stopped. He had never learned about peace from his family.
Ever since I showed that I understood what my parents said, they have taught me all I needed to White-Collar, know about peace. I learned that everyone was created equal, and that we had gone through very tough times to resolve that issue. I learned that our words can be used to heal or hurt a nation. Our fists can only hurt. They’re there to adaptations, help us pick things up, not express our feelings. We have to live life with a peaceful mantra, air, and attitude.
I also learned that our actions rub off on others. I have used what I have learned to try and make the world a better place for all of the people I know. I love my neighborhood. Analysis. For the most part, everyone is kind to one another, and we have area parties with playful competition. Once, on the Fourth of July, we had a fireworks contest. My little subdivision was screaming and adaptations cheering for our fireworks ‘master,’ and the next day, my friend from the other subdivision admitted that they were doing the same. The one fight going on is our on-going fight with the Homeowner’s Association. From the White-Collar Crime and Criminals Essay, day we first asked for a swim team, it’s been petitions, reasoning, and constant pleading. They won’t budge, and every summer, the fire is fueled by our enragement.
Our neighborhood stands as a team, fighting for one thing. This may not be what many people believe to hamlet, be a fight, but it is. Crime Essay. It’s just a peaceful one. The book of adaptations, peace has many gripping chapters. It’s not just a history textbook. Where Take. It’s a story, with villains and heros and several climaxes. Hamlet. Osama Bin Laden and Adam Lanza may have tried to destruct the peace tower in dr faustus, all of hamlet, our hearts, but people like Martin Luther King Jr. Conflict Of Education. will help us build it back up.
Humanity has turned the page. Adaptations. We sit at the computer, ready to does brave new world take place, type up a new chapter in history. Hamlet. We are the characters. It’s up to us to decide if we’re good or bad. As we type, we have to decide. How do we want our story to Essay about, end? What? Peace is hamlet adaptations, a Weapon!
Second Place (tie) : Ashwin Prabu, gr. 5 , Colonial Trail Elementary School, Henrico County Public Schools. What is peace? Is it the quietness one experiences while concentrating on a test or is it just relaxing on the warm sand in Myrtle Beach. I asked my dad what peace really is and his response made me change my whole entire view of peace. He said that peace has many definitions. One definition of peace is the end of violence. Another definition of peace is to never use violence to show your emotions. He also asked me that have I ever thought of peace as an effective weapon against psychological approaches violence? My dad told me that his grandfather was a freedom fighter under Mahatma Gandhi during the Indian Revolution and hamlet adaptations that he was a great person who used peace against violence.
Then, I started to do research on nixon v. united states, Gandhi. I learned that Gandhi used words instead of fists and adaptations helped India win freedom against the British. About. Gandhi’s peacefulness spread all across the world. It also influenced Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi, and many people across the earth to use peace, words and love instead of violence and adaptations war. Next I researched about Martin Luther King Jr. Nixon V. United. I found out that he also used peace to adaptations, prevent segregation between Whites and and Criminals Blacks. He organized rallies and provided peaceful leadership to the African Americans to make Whites and adaptations Blacks be treated equally. “I have decided to stick with love and peace. Hate is too great of a burden to bear” was one of his quotes. I wanted to take place, research more great people who used peace against violence and I searched for Nelson Mandela.
I learned that Mandela fought for multi- racial elections and that Africans will have the same rights as whites. He didn’t use violence or start a war against the apartheid. He used peaceful means and adaptations he won against the apartheid. Finally In 1994 Nelson Mandela won the first multi – racial election and became the first Black president of nixon, South Africa. Finally, I found out that Aung San Suu Kye also used peace against violence. She is a Burmese freedom fighter who is currently fighting to end dictatorship in hamlet, Myanmar.
She has only organized rallies and gave speeches. She did not start wars or fights. Peace is really a great weapon against theory of education violence. This lesson my dad has taught me and my research on all these great people has made me be peaceful in hamlet adaptations, my community today. Whenever someone riles me or bullies me, I do not use violence to get back at dr faustus, them. Instead, I tell them that what they are doing is hamlet, wrong and theory hurtful and it actually makes them stop. It is much easier than punching them back in hamlet, the face. What is peace I wonder once again………………… I think I know now.
Perisa Ashar, gr. 4, Colonial Trail Elementary School, Henrico County Public Schools. When a country wins a war, I wonder if they really won the war. I think about that because even though a country “won” the White-Collar, war, they have still lost their weapons, wealth, but most important of adaptations, all: precious human lives. Essay About Arcadia. I think when someone dies, while trying to hamlet adaptations, defend their country; their family might be grieving about Essay about Arcadia, them because the person who died might be their mother, father, son, daughter, brother, or sister. When someone dies, they are gone forever, and no money or victory can bring them back again. War also brings a Depression on hamlet adaptations, both sides of a war. In a Depression, people lose their jobs, and they do not have any money to about Arcadia, support their family’s needs, and hamlet more people perish every day. War only brings hatred and dr faustus destruction. People need to hamlet adaptations, solve conflicts in a peaceful way and not be fighting in wars. Our war can also lead to another war.
When I visited the Essay Arcadia, Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. I learned that when Germany lost in World War I, they had to pay a lot of debt and they had difficult times. Then Adolph A. Hitler became popular, but when he came in power, he had a lot of hatred against hamlet adaptations Jewish people and he did cruel things to them and nixon v. united states that finally lead to hamlet adaptations, World War II. One of the where brave new world take, things that my mom teaches me about peace is to get to know and connect with people, even if they are from different cultures, religions, and countries. Hamlet Adaptations. She teaches me this because it broadens my horizons, teaches me what other people are going through across the world, and dr faustus how they are resolving their problems peacefully. Hamlet Adaptations. For example, when I went to Kolkata, India we visited “The Queen Victoria Museum” and I learned how India got its independence from Great Britain, thanks to India’s freedom fighters. India achieved freedom by using nonviolence, under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.
If India could achieve freedom and peace by using nonviolence, other countries can also solve their problems peacefully, so no precious human lives would be lost. My parents have also taught me to make friends from other cultures because they may look different from the outside, but inside they might be really nice and kind. If we respect each other’s cultures, we can all live in peace and harmony. This year, I have more friends who are from different cultures. I enjoy playing with them and learning about about Arcadia, their cultures. I also have friends from all around the world.
I can call them every other week. I even have a pen-pal who lives in Niger. I write to her whenever I have spare time. It helps me understand their opinion; experience, and culture. Now, I have noticed that I am much more accepting of other people and also more open-minded to their point of view. Whenever I have a conflict with one of hamlet adaptations, my classmates, I control my tone of voice and I explain it to them in nonviolent way. If they are still rude, I speak to psychological approaches, them in adaptations, a strong, firm and, yet not in a hurtful way. I think people should remember lessons that we have learned from previous wars, wise leaders and from our own experiences. These lessons have taught us to be more respectful to each other and to discuss problems instead of fighting about it. If people follow these rules, the word would be a very peaceful place.
Caroline Crowley, gr. 5, Colonial Trail Elementary School, Henrico County Public Schools. I have no idea if there is an even greater solution for peace, but I have learned over my eleven years of life that religion is the Arcadia, true source of peace, love, friendship, and forgiveness. I was born and adaptations raised into a very religious Christian family, and theory my parents taught me to forgive and love everyone, especially my enemies. Why should we do this? To follow God’s example. We were made in his image, so we should love others as he loves us. This, and many other important life lessons, is the knowledge I grew up on.
When I say religion, I mostly mean Christians, but whatever religion you may be, if you feel peace when you practice it, that feeling of peace is adaptations, what I am going to talk about. As I walk into v. united states church, I feel a sensation of calming, relaxing peace. How I love to go to hamlet, church and conflict theory of education listen to hamlet adaptations, the wonderful talks and the testimonies of dr faustus, others. Adaptations. This is my solution for peace. Many people say that family, friends, or happiness is the true source of peace, but religion ties all of this together. Arcadia. When you know that God is with you, you can feel happiness. When you go to adaptations, church, you can pray and sing with you friends and family. It is does brave place, my parents that have given me the chance to receive peace, but it is my religion that I have received it from. When I practice my religion, I feel like I am doing the right thing, and that my loved ones are proud of me. Because of my family’s teachings, I have always wanted to be a good example to others, who may not be doing what is right. Also, my family has taught me to not smoke, drink alcohol, or do anything harmful to my body.
This is a wonderful example of love, and hamlet shows that my relatives care about me so much, that they do everything they can to keep me safe. There have been times in my life when I have been drenched, blow-dried, and warmly rapped around in peace and comfort. Just knowing that you are doing the thing, is Crime and Criminals, better than the warmest, comforting, most indescribable bed you could ever crawl into. You feel peace. You feel and be loved. All you have to do is hamlet, find a bright, illuminating example who you can follow to new world take place, draw you nearer and nearer to hamlet, light and peace. When and where can you feel peace? Is it just when you are in holy, spiritual places? No. You can feel peace almost anywhere.
I’ve had many experiences like this. Once, I was just sitting quietly in my room, and for some queer reason I felt relaxed. I felt relaxed from all the stress that had been weighing down my shoulders. Arcadia. Everything seemed very peaceful and hamlet adaptations happy. Analysis. This is one example, but sometimes your feelings of adaptations, peace are personal. Most of mine have been like that. I always look at my life and dr faustus analysis realize that I am very lucky. I have a wonderful family that has taught me wonderful things that have brought peace into my life.
Isabel Kump, gr. Adaptations. 4, Colonial Trail Elementary School, Henrico County Public Schools. What Peace Means To Me. When I think about dr faustus, peace, I imagine a blue sky with a rainbow stretched across it. Other people imagine the beach, the mountains, their favorite animal and other relaxing things. Peace is what makes our country and the world a decent and safe place to live. My family has always told my little brother and me to be nice, caring, and adaptations peaceful. To me, peace is very important. It means not going around starting fights and arguments and making sure to have a positive outlook on life.
Without realizing it, my grandfather has influenced me the most on analysis, peace and is my role model. My grandfather is very nice and loving. When my brother and I get into a fight or an argument, my grandfather steps in, and without doing anything that might upset us further, calms us down and makes us feel better. Peace is also about being calm, which my grandfather is very good at. My grandfather is the best in the universe, and adaptations I have learned a lot from him. Peace is also what helps our President and the government make treaties with other countries to keep peace between them. Without peace, the world would constantly be in wars. I’m glad we have peace, aren’t you? You probably have heard about the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown. Crime Essay. When I found out about it, I felt like someone had taken my stomach away and replaced it with a hard, cold rock. I felt sick over all the kids that had been killed, and I felt very sad for the parents of the kids who had died.
The person who shot the kids was a very good example of a person who cares nothing about peace whatsoever. Hamlet Adaptations. He was cruel and heartless to dr faustus, commit the shooting and not even give a thought to the consequences-for himself and for the families of the kids who died-of killing all those people. I feel very sad also because there has never been an elementary school shooting in adaptations, all of theory, U.S. Adaptations. history except for conflict theory, the one at Sandy Hook. The President and the whole country was disturbed and grief-stricken when they learned of the shooting, and I am not sure if Newtown will ever be the same again. Anyway, we can all learn something from the shooting: to always be peaceful and to never lose control of ourselves or take our anger out on other people. In general, peace is very important and hamlet life wouldn’t be the same without it. We should all work to keep our cool and, as my grandfather taught me, to help bring about about Arcadia, peace to others and the world. Rebecca Mann, gr.
5, Clover Hill Elementary School, Chesterfield County Public Schools. Peace is the most wonderful thing in adaptations, the world. I don’t know what I would do without peace. I’m so glad my parents and family taught me about it. My parents told me to be nice and help others.
All t he time, I follow my family’s lead. I want to be peace-loving forever. Every day, I try in small ways to make the earth a better place. I’ve been nice and caring for as long as I can remember, so I don’t see why I should stop now. Almost every day, I believe that the more I help, the psychological, less horrible the world will be. Adaptations. I can’t wait to grow up. Earlier in my life, I’ve done so many great deeds. Last year, with my friends, family and my family’s friends, I helped clean up and remodel an old lady’s house. Psychological. Every year my community does a yard sale. Recycling old items and using less helps the world. Everyone also [contributes] because if someone needs or wants something there will not be shortages for others.
Most of the time, when my friends are being bullied, I stand up for them. Adaptations. I love peace and hate wars. Wars kill or hurt the psychological approaches, innocent. Hamlet. Like I said, peace is the best feeling ever. When I grow up, I will help others in need.
I will join organizations or clubs that will help make the world a better place. The clubs I’ll go to will help the world go green globally. I will join an organization where I can help others around me. I think Habitat for Humanity is a good one, and everyone is happy. LIVING IN A WORLD OF PEACE. Ashanti Rives, gr. 4, Walnut Hill Elementary School, Petersburg Public Schools. Everyone likes to live in analysis, a world of peace. I think this is important because it is very nice and can keep you away from drama. My parents have taught me many things about being peaceful, especially at school.
They taught me to be respectful at all times and to walk away from drama and to never get involved in it. This affects my actions in school and in my community because they motivate me to do the hamlet, right thing .This is very important because getting into drama will make you a witness or the one who may be blamed when there is a problem. Peace is Essay Arcadia, also important because being mean, rude, or harmful for no reason at all is not being peaceful. This happens at school a lot mostly outside, but my friends and I just walk away. My mom tells me this is the adaptations, right thing to do. Conflict Theory Of Education. 968 words essay on Alcohol and hamlet adaptations, its effects. Essay on Alcohol and its effects. Nixon? Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant- it slows down the body#8217;s functions and its effects are similar to those of a general anaesthetic. Ethyl alcohol (ethanol) is the active ingredient in all alcoholic drinks. If you take any alcoholic beverage and remove the ingredients that give it taste and adaptations, colour, you get ethyl alcohol. Remove the water from psychological approaches ethyl alcohol and you get ether. Ether is an anaesthetic that works on the brain and puts it to sleep.
The same symptoms surgical patient experiences under ether are those experienced by a person drinking alcohol. Alcohol consumption is a learned behaviour- no one likes the taste of alcohol at first. People drink out of curiosity, because of custom (let#8217;s #8220;toast#8221; the bride and adaptations, groom), or o escape from an unpleasant feeling with a sense of well- being and euphoria. Alcoholics are perceived as being weak people or as having bad habits. Alcoholism is the disease produced by the repeated misuse of ethyl alcohol. It is a Primary disease: it is not caused by theory some underlying psychological or moral flaw. It is a chronic disease: it does not go away with time. Adaptations? It is a Progressive disease: it does not improve as long as one continues to drink. It is a potentially Fatal disease, if the drinking is not interrupted. A primary characteristic of an alcoholic is a loss of control- once an alcoholic starts to drink, he or she is not able to predict things or situations in analysis a normal way.
There are at least 300,000 alcoholics in Australia and 1 person in 10 who drinks at all will become an alcoholic. 1,600,000 Australians are affected either personally, or within their family by abuse of alcohol. Approximately 25% of people who drink alcohol have problems during their life. Once alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream, it is rapidly distributed throughout the body. It affects almost every cell, every organ, and every level of human functioning, .The most profound early effect is on the central nervous system, where it acts as a sedative, producing relaxation and sense of hamlet adaptations well-being.
It impairs the intellect, physical abilities and metabolism. Conflict Theory Of Education? When alcohol is taken regularly, in large amounts over many years, permanent physical damage will occur. This damage is adaptations, often aggravated by the lack of vitamins because most alcoholics have poor eating habits. Alcohol can also damage the liver, brain and White-Collar Crime and Criminals Essay, other parts of the nervous system. In the hamlet adaptations, final stages of alcoholism, parts of the brain are permanently damaged and confusion, disorientation and DT#8217;s result. Any chemical that alters mood, feelings, co-ordination, perception, or behaviour, alters the cells in the brain and disrupts their normal chemical behaviour. Nixon? When alcohol enters the hamlet, blood stream it travels to brave new world take place, the brain. Alcohol can affect millions of nerve cells and change communication patterns throughout the brain. Alcohol can impair vision, distort hearing, muddle speech, impair judgement, dull the hamlet adaptations, body#8217;s senses, disturb motor skills, and reduce co-ordination.
Deep inside the brain alcohol can affect the areas that control aggression, hunger and thirst, pleasure and v. united, pain, and body temperature. These effects are produced because alcohol inhibits blood from transporting oxygen to brain cells. When brain cells are deprived of oxygen, they become impaired and adaptations, possibly die! That#8217;s brain damage. Because the brain matures more slowly than other organs of the body, it may be even more susceptible to certain permanent, irreversible effects of alcohol. The hypothalamus is the portion of the brain that controls lour automatic reflexes: breathing, heartbeat, and other bodily operations over about Arcadia, which an individual has no conscious control.
When alcohol is present in the blood stream it directly affects the hypothalamus, possibly damaging it, particularly during the adolescent years. In addition, alcohol has a profound effect on the frontal lobe- the part of the brain that allows us to analyse and program our behaviour. It also allows us to convert experience to memory and is responsible for hamlet adaptations, the formation of our #8220;self-image#8221;. These processes require a tremendous amount of energy. The depressant nature of alcohol directly lowers die energy centre in the brain. Those who lower the and Criminals Essay, energy levels in hamlet adaptations the brain by using alcohol or other toxic chemicals, lose not only analysis mental capacity, but their ability to realise they have lost it. What is the best adaptation of Hamlet? I …
essay islamophobia Islamophobia designates the irrational fear of Islam that drives people to make blanket judgments accusing all Muslims (over a billion people) of harboring the same murderous fantasies that Muslim extremists express and hamlet, act upon. For most Muslims, Islam is psychological approaches, a religion that demands moral behavior from believers who will be answerable to Allah for their actions on judgment day. Islam commands Muslims to care for the sick and the destitute, to organize communities according to principles of justice, to master oneself before one seeks to influence others. Islam does not have a strict hierarchy among its clergy; Islamic teaching comes from largely autonomous leaders in a wide range of communities.
To reduce so complex a phenomenon to the “obscurantist rantings of Islamists defies responsible serious scholarship”, to accept a simplistic formula – all Muslims are Jihadis bent on world domination – can inspire both hatred and violence. The issue is one of international importance. Some Muslims have started to compare the adaptations persecution against Muslims to what the Jews endured in the twentieth century. Writer Abid Ullah Jan, decried Western Islamophobia and psychological, stated that it was “paving the way for Muslim holocaust… towards mainstream fascism: a time when pogrom of Muslims would not generate any sympathy or reaction in their favour.” Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, speaking on behalf of the 57 Islamic countries, declared the the phenomenon of Islamophobia was on the rise in adaptations Europe and urged Western countries to promote tolerance and respect for all religions. He warned about the dangers of Islamophobia: “If we read the trends closely and psychological, connect the dots, it is obvious Muslims are being dehumanized. This is painfully reminiscent of the pre-World War II era. That dark chapter of history and pogroms must never be repeated, this time involving Muslims.” Jews more than any group, should be sensitive to accusing other people of what the Nazis accused them: a ruthless people intent on slaughtering and enslaving the German people. To the even-handed observer, neither group should be subject to adaptations such slander. The Commission on British Muslims and Islamophobia in its final report “Islamophobia: a challenge to does new world place us all” (1997) identifies. EIGHT COMPONENTS OF ISLAMOPHOBIA: 1) Islam is seen as a monolithic bloc, static and adaptations, unresponsive to approaches change.
2) Islam is seen as separate and ‘other’. It does not have values in common with other cultures, is not affected by them and does not influence them. 3) Islam is seen as inferior to the West. Hamlet Adaptations! It is seen as barbaric, irrational, primitive and sexist. 4) Islam is seen as violent, aggressive, threatening, supportive of terrorism and engaged in a ‘clash of civilisations’.
5) Islam is seen as a political ideology and is used for political or military advantage. 6) Criticisms made of the West by Islam are rejected out of hand. 7) Hostility towards Islam is used to justify discriminatory practices towards Muslims and exclusion of Muslims from mainstream society. 8) Anti-Muslim hostility is seen as natural or normal. In recent years there has been a growing trend to challenge those perceived as Islamophobes: The creation of Islamophobia Watch, founded with the “determination not to allow the racist and imperialist ideology of Western Imperialism to about Arcadia gain common currency in adaptations its demonisation of theory Islam.” The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has an hamlet adaptations, annual “Islamophobia Awards“to highlight what they describe as growing anti-Muslim prejudice. Organization of conferences regarding the dangers of Islamophobia and the best ways to fight it. (See, CAIR Conference and UN Conference). Islamophobia is Essay, a common accusation used in PCP circles where, like the accusation of Antisemitism, it is intended to stigmatize the hamlet adaptations person so designated as having gone far beyond the boundaries of acceptable discourse, along with racism and essentialism. Islamophobia has such currency that at least one academic at a US university felt justified in requiring his students to write a paper on “outright Islamophobes”, including major scholars like Patricia Crone, Fouad Ajami, Bernard Lewis, Niall Ferguson, Samuel Huntington. He justifies the assignment by White-Collar denouncing Islamophobia as a “phenomenon that brings together right-wing Christians and right-wing Zionists.”
Among those accused of suffering from Islamophobia are: DANIEL PIPES : Director of the Middle East Forum Pipes has been accused of being an “enemy of Islam,” a racist, contributing to adaptations the dehumanization of Muslims. His opponents consider his views dangerous because they open the gate to persecution of Muslims. (see here, here, and here). Islamophobia Watch finds him hard to nixon v. united please, to say the least. STEPHEN SCHWARTZ : A Sufi writer, director of the Center for Islamic Pluralism he blames the rise of Islamic fundamentalism on Wahabism, a puritan Islamic sect that has enormous influence in Saudi Arabia, and through them, throughout the world, The Two Faces of Islam : Saudi Fundamentalism and Its Role in Terrorism . Schwartz replies to accusations of Islamophobia. THE DANGER OF EQUATING CRITICISM WITH ISLAMOPHOBIA. As some feel justified in denouncing Jewish use of the accusation of “anti-Semitism” to deflect legitimate criticism, however, so can Muslims use Islamophobia to adaptations deflect serious discussion about dangerous tendencies within Islam. Indeed, some define Islamophobia simply in terms of public image: One who contributes to conflict a negative public presentation of Islam and/or Muslims; whose political views and/or scholarship shape how Islam is presented today. When any criticism or negative presentation of Islam becomes identified with Islamophobia, when any scholar who does not play the role of apologist can be so dismissed no matter how substantial his or her research, then the label has shifted from an important designation (and legitimate accusation) to a weapon of propaganda designed to smear opponents. In such cases, Islamophobia becomes a particularly powerful form of demopathic discourse, insisting that any criticism of Islam is a form of demonizing hate language.
The problem arises when we look more closely at adaptations, the data. The two cases, however they may share this similarity in does new world take place being both the objects of vilification, differ in most ways. Hamlet! The Jews were a minority in German (and other European) countries, with an understandably passive public discourse, and an extraordinary commitment to v. united states public law, as witnessed by their own passive obedience in assembling for deportation. Despite this public profile of Jews in their culture, Germans were taken over by a ruthless ruler who had plans for world conquest and hamlet, genocide, and appealed to nixon states them by accusing the Jews of hamlet adaptations everything he planned to do. In other words, Hitler’s image of the Jew was the fevered projection of his own mad desires. Muslims today represent over a billion people – possibly the most numerous religion on earth. They largely do not have societies, and certainly not polities, ruled by law. By the standards of civil society, male violence has few restraints (honor-killings, vendetta, assassination). Muslims of many ethnic and denominational groups have, shouting “Allah is Essay Arcadia, great!” blown themselves up in the midst of tens, hundreds and thousands of civilians, hoping to kill as many as possible. Muslims openly make calls for hamlet, world conquest, violent attacks on civilians – Muslim and non-Muslim – glorified as holy martyrdom; and a virulent discourse of v. united states world conquest and slaughter; and consider any Muslim who denies that terrorism in a part of Islam as a Kafir (unbeliever). Hamlet! Muslim and Arabic public discourse – media, circles of power – abound in conspiratorial thinking and action in which the “other” – especially the “Jew” – is, by definition, demonized.
Insofar as Islam is dr faustus, genuinely a religion of peace and tolerance for non-observant Muslims and non-Muslim neighbors, then sweeping generalizations about its ruthless imperial tendencies is indeed a form of hamlet Islamophobia. To the degree that Islam has yet to approaches grapple with its own theocratic and imperialist elements (dar al Harb, which accounts for adaptations, Islam’s bloody borders), to the degree that it has not yet developed a formal and powerful theological challenge to the Jihadi ideologies that drove an earlier, warrior culture to make war with the infidel, then fear and criticism of Islam by both non-Muslims and Muslims represents not paranoia but realistic concern. Nor need one express such concerns by demonizing. In order to analysis explore where legitimate criticism crosses the boundary into demonizing hate speech, we must establish a fair approach that applies the same rules to everyone and enables us to register evidence soberly. Thus we cannot merely say, “even-handedly,” that any criticism of Islam or Judaism is hamlet, hate speech and White-Collar Essay, constitutes either Islamophobia or Judeophobia, regardless of how Muslims and hamlet adaptations, Jews behave. Otherwise, demopaths can demand that no one criticize them, even as they engage in the worst kind of hate-speech and violence. THE PROBLEM WITH ISLAM. According to the PCP, Islam is a religion of White-Collar Crime and Criminals Essay peace. Violent Muslims, especially suicide terrorists, represent a “hi-jacking” of the religion, a deviation and distortion of the adaptations “true message” of Islam. Proponents of this perspective, including scholars like John Esposito and popularizers like Karen Armstrong, have dominated progressive public discourse for several decades. Even the President’s remarks in the aftermath of 9-11 reflected this public consensus.
The situation seems more than ironic. The US President, a man who had not even read the Essay about Arcadia Quran in translation, tells the Muslims and the rest of the world what their religion is really about? In the meantime, radical Muslims, fully conversant with the contents of the Quran openly disagree and adaptations, declare Islam a religion of war and conquest, and moderate Muslims noting Islamist use of violence in and Criminals Essay silencing criticism, bewail the role of Western intellectuals, who, alone, continue to insist that Islam is a religion of hamlet peace. It is one thing to call oneself a religion of peace, another to act on those principles. The most disturbing aspect of Arcadia Islam at the moment, is the reluctance of Islamic leaders has to denounce Islamic terrorism.
In July of 2005, international representatives from adaptations, Muslim nations opposed a UN attempt to condemn violence in Essay about the name of religion. These appointed, and supposedly qualified Muslim representative’s, then, saw the international condemnation of all religious violence as a specific and hamlet adaptations, unacceptable attack on Islam. Since the London bombings, a distinct shift to a more accommodating Islamic position at least in public declarations has occurred, but it is not clear how much that shift is a response to a fear of retaliation. Perhaps the best way to illustrate this fundamental problem with Islam and civil society right now is the states Muslim attitude towards those they label apostates (Muslims who leave the hamlet adaptations religion). Islamic law holds that apostates deserve death. Right now, the psychological approaches people who qualify as apostates, and are therefore deserving of hamlet death, are Muslims who criticize Islam or call attention to nixon v. united states problems and the need to reform. The standard response from the Islamic world to the voice of moderate Muslim dissent is outrage and death threats which effectively silence those voices. Hamlet Adaptations! On the other hand, Muslims who engage in suicide terrorism, those people who according to the PCP are ‘high-jacking’ and ‘perverting’ Islam, do not qualify as apostates according to prominent and vocal Muslim theologians. About Arcadia! Again, since the London bombings, there has been some movement towards condemning terrorism, although critics have questioned the value and adaptations, sincerity of the fatwa. The situation has a recipe for mafia-style protection rackets and a culture of homerta (silence) where violence and its threat control public discourse. Muslims themselves represent the first and most common target of this violence, from the silenced reformers to the terrorism of Jihadis who consider the vast majority of Muslims as infidels who have regressed to the period of ignorance preceding the Prophet’s revelations (Jahaliyya).
The terrible tales of Iraq, Darfur, Algeria, etc. in v. united states which Muslim terrorists kill Muslim civilians, support the JP’s perception of this violence as that of a fanatic religious war, the most daunting of enemies. One of the terrible truths with which those who will only swallow the PCP blue pill refuse to adaptations grapple, is that the first and worst victim of Jihadi Islamism is Muslims who do not join the psychological movement, perhaps that very Islam which really is a religion of adaptations peace. In that sense, these forces represent enemies of all those people, Muslims, monotheists, polytheists, agnostics and psychological approaches, atheists, who want to live in fruitful and peaceful relations with their neighbors. We are dupes when we wrongly identify demopaths as “moderates” and ignore genuine moderates. Tariq Ramadan presents himself as a moderate, and hamlet, has been compared with Niebuhr and Essay, Tillich by enthusiastic scholars of religion, as a high-level advisor to the English government may please the PCP desire to silence “knee-jerk elements in the right-wing press and their prejudices,” but if Tariq Ramadan is not a moderate, if his discourse, more closely examined, represents a “modern” reframing of the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, then the consequences of hamlet such trust may prove most dangerous. Psychological! Were Ramadan a demopath aiming at hamlet adaptations, a Muslim takeover of conflict Europe, he would use his position to eliminate the hot-heads who give away the game, and empower a whole generation of hamlet Muslim communities prepared to wait for a more opportune time, when the demographics improve. How to tell a demopath in analysis this crowded field of noisy claimants to tell us about Islam? In this case, where Islam stands out right now for the intensity of its demonizing public discourse, the Geiger counter for detecting demopaths is quite simple: What do they say and do about the hamlet adaptations hate speech that comes out of Islam, especially its Judeophobia? If they deny it, minimize it, make excuses, denounce it with empty formulas… if they engage in it when speaking to the choir… if, when pressed, they resort to accusations of Islamophobia and partisan bias against their critics… then the psychological odds are, you’re either dealing with a demopath or an aggressive dupe.
For those committed to civil society’s values, to let such demopaths slide is to hold Muslims in moral contempt by failing to apply the simplest of the rules of fairness. Why? For fear that they will not meet even those expectations? In any case, it condemns Muslims to a continued existence as the victims of systematic cultural and religious violence. Nothing illustrates these dynamics better than the Danish cartoon incident — Islamic hyper-sensitivity to criticism, demopathic comparisons of these cartoons with Holocaust denial, the “Muslim street” rioting, Western fears and intimidation, and the effective extension of Sharia law to adaptations non-Muslim areas. The solution lies not in war, nor in demonizing, but in honest discourse, in supporting friends and challenging enemies; in making true friends and having the right enemies. So far, Islamophobia — the irrational fear of Islam — seems far more a term for demopaths to nixon v. united manipulate than a genuine identifier of hamlet adaptations a paranoid position.

Recent events have generated a lot of debate about states, Islam, Muslims and freedom of hamlet adaptations speech. Arcadia! Unfortunately, much of hamlet adaptations that debate has fallen back upon tired arguments about not only dr faustus, what “Muslims are like” but also how those who oppose Islamophobia are somehow defending oppression or defending the unforgivable acts of extremists, for example 9.11. These overused arguments are evident in adaptations your response to this speech.
